Sri Lanka to get UN Security Council Membership ..?

Asha Nanayakkara, SINHALAYA News Agency, Colombo, Sri Lanka : Sri Lanka may be elected to be the successor of Japan for the ‘non-permanent’ seat on the UN Security Council from the Asian Group, though it is not confirmed yet.
Japan, the current holder of the Asian Group's 'non-permanent' seat's term supposed to end on 2010 and Sri Lanka may acquire the place if elected.
On 14th December 1955 Sri Lanka, then “Ceylon” became a member of United Nations. During 1960 to 1961 Sri Lanka seated in the Security Council.
Sri Lanka getting elected for the Security Council at this moment will be another greater achievement after conquering terrorism.
