Mozilla Launches Final Thunderbird 1.5 Beta

Mozilla Corp. has released the second, and last, beta of Thunderbird 1.5, the next major update of the company's competitor to Microsoft's Outlook e-mail client.
Thunderbird 1.5 Beta 2, which appeared Saturday, doesn't include any new features said Mozilla, but it does sport improvements to auto complete, an enhanced automated update system, and performance and security updates.

The client will include a phishing detector, support for RSS and podcasting, an auto complete tool that shows potential To: addresses based on how often users send mail to each recipient, and integration with anti-spam filtering software installed on company servers. It's scheduled to release before the end of the year, as is Mozilla's popular browser update, Firefox 1.5.

Thunderbird 1.5 Beta 2 can be downloaded from the Mozilla Web site or FTP servers. Users of 1.5 Beta 1, however, can simply wait for automatic update to kick in and download a much smaller file.

Mozilla's client runs under Windows, Linux, and Mac OS X 10.2 and later.

More information about the beta can be found in the release notes posted on the Mozilla site.
