Super League Cager tourney

The Delmege Super League mercantile basketball tournament conducted by the Mercantile Services Basketball Association and sponsored by Delmege Forsyth Group for the third successive year will be worked off from January 9 to 17 at the Otters Aquatic Club courts.

A total of 33 teams in three men's divisions and one women's division will be vying for honours with a total of 62 matches to be completed during this period.

The defending champions Delmege Group are the top seeds in group 'A' followed by Sampath Bank, Seylan Bank, Nations Trust Bank and Dialog Telekom.

The group 'B' will comprise Ranawana Security, Union Assurance, Sampath Bank 'B', David Pieris Motor Company Limited, SriLankan Airlines, HSBC and Delmege 'B'. Meanwhile MAS Holdings will make their debut in the 'C' division tournament along with Dialog 'B', Airport and Aviation, Commercial Bank, Ceylinco, Hayleys, Amana Takaful and Nations Trust Bank 'B'

The group 'D' will also have two newcomers DFCC and Galadari Hotel and they will be joined by Ceylinco 'B', SriLankan Airlines 'B', Mobitel, Lanka Bell, HSBC 'B' and Paints and General Limited.

The women's tournament will comprise SriLankan Airlines, David Pieris Motor Company Limited, Seylan Bank and Hatton National Bank who will be making a comeback after a lapse of two years.

The most outstanding player of each division will receive special awards.
