Question - How EPF benefits of a deceased member could be obtained?

Answer - If the deceased member had effected a valid nomination, such a nominee will be paid the appropriate amount. In the absence of such nomination, the benefits will be paid to the heirs under the Inheritance of Property Law.

Claimants of benefits should each fill in a "T" Form and make the application to the Commissioner of Labour together with the following documents:-

* Member's Birth Certificate.

* If applicant is married, the Marriage Certificate

* If there are children, their Birth Certificates

* If the applicants are parents of the deceased, the member's Birth Certificate.

* In case of minors, a Certificate of a Guardianship (a letter from the Grama Niladari and the Divisional Secretary addressed to the Commission of Labour certifying the minor's name/s, and the Guardian's name).

* A bio-data form certified by the Grama Niladari and the Divisional Secretary.
