Sorry, I don’t intend to open old wounds and hurt anyone but that is part of this country’s history that cannot be forgotten. The evil happenings during the period from '87-'90 may be considered as a one of  percursor of the present disaster. How they (politicians) can cover down Hair raising & gruesome stories on thousands of unidentified dead bodies which floated down the rivers, rotted in streets, burnt under old tyres & cadavers eaten by stray dogs. By such pathetic jokes?

My friend , this is not a joke but ,a cry of  youths were sacrificed at the altar of torture chambers.

the  Sri lanka's "LOST  GENERATION", an entire youth generation sacrified to death by extremist , pseudo revolutionarists and by  mercenary killing squads.

the "WAR" still continues and political dramas continue , but the lost youth and its perfume of innocence will never return. So when we talk about "WAR AND OUR POLITICIANS", it is very correct to note that " War and politicians will always survive , but the youth will lost"

This is a topic that should never be discussed. Politics is war without violence. War is politics with violence.

War will consist of many individual battles and/or campaigns. Any warring party may win a battle or even a campaign, but to win the war, the winner has to extinguish the enemy’s will to fight or totally annihilate him.

The alternative is to compromise on a solution midway to the opposing views, so both opponents can agree to stop the carnage and let people live in peace.  Midway will depend on the stronger pushing the weaker towards his (stronger) objectives. But some compromise of all views are required from both ends.

The scenario Sigiri mentioned at Temple Tree’s makes me laugh. The same people who participated at peace talks and cheered for CFA, are know all for war and destruction.

Have we forgotten why we needed the CFA then? It just did not come on its own. When our economy collapsed in 2001, with the first ever negative growth and all foreign powers refused to grant aid due to rampant corruption. Most senior ministers in today’s cabinet including the current president were compromised then. The Deputy Defense Minister was caught with Billions in “Certificate of Deposits” for witch he couldn’t answer. “Jaya Sikurui” failed miserably and many heavy weapons were gifted to the LTTE on a platter or rather on the newly paved A9 highway with potential double as a runway.

Yes the new Army Commander did a splendid job in east recently.  The government gave total political backing with the Defense Secretary leading from the front. All good work, but winning a campaign (East is still only half won) is not winning the WAR. For that we got to annihilate LTTE’s WILL to wage war.

How close we are in this regard only time will tell. Till then we will operate Katunayake only during dayshift for civilian flights and let Tiger Air run riots after the sundown. For each of their $ 350,000 worth aircrafts we have pumped the sky with $ 500,000 worth of tracers and small arms. West is again strangling us with Aid cuts due to poor Human Right display.

In a country where we beg just to survive, it is the donors, who will call the shots when peace is talked. The faster we understand it the better to get back to the pre war days of prosperity and happiness. I am sure most of you at Sinhalaya had never experienced it for you were born during the conflict. Sri Lanka was a great country to live before this conflict, may be it still is.
