This photo is a true one taken in 1954.  RAND corporation (one of the pioneers of modern computers) predicted in 1954 how the home computer will look like 50 years later in 2004.

This photo and the statement underneath is a clear indication of the Phase of Change. Human knowledge which took few millenniums to double in the past, doubles every 7 or 8 years nowadays and Technology is not far behind. The demo by Rand would have been influenced by the best brains it could harness, but falls short, far behind what was available in the market in 2004.

Can anyone suggest what next 50 years will produce?

If things go well (no major war) we may have few scientific observatories constructed at various points in Mars, but I doubt that these will be self sufficient. So far we haven’t discovered water in large quantities. Also the thin alien atmosphere will require domed cities or under ground dwellings.

But if expensive minerals or metals are discovered there will be mining companies established quite soon.

I think space based industries might be flourishing in another 50 years. The big Corporations will find it more profitable to have their factories based in space to escape National jurisdictions and more importantly “Taxes”.

Many religions will loose their followings or at least adjust interpretation of their scripture to suite the newly gathered knowledge of the universe and its beginning. Some religions may disappear altogether.

The nuclear family and its greatest institution “Marriage” will be hard pressed to survive.

But MAN, deep inside will be the same, living in a fools paradise.

My prediction is in another 50 years:

When you see the rate changing the technology, there will be no humanity man but retain only robots & they will have war like and will destroy every thing & Man will definitely go backward  to where he was (even before stage of upretise & tigrise civilizations).
