Athas' catalogue of blunders. Another one
« on: November 04, 2007, 03:19:02 AM »
I wish to inform the forum regarding the the SundayTimes article dated 4/11/2007.

Here Mr. Athas with the picture of an unknown source claims that K-8 advanced jet trainers - firve of them were damaged within the hangar and claimed the validity of the news item by posting the below image.

A damaged Chinese built K-8 intermediate trainer aircraft inside the SLAF hangar at Anuradhapura. Note the glass canopy is warped due to the heat from fire. The nose and the wings are damaged. This is just one of five K-8 aircraft that were inside the hangar.

Please note the serial number CT190.

Now compare the above image to the one below.

This is an image of a Nanchang TF-6 / CJ-6 aircraft, which is a simple propellor driven aircraft that is widely used by the SLAF to provide the very basics of flying for its budding pilots. This is NOT a K-8 advanced jet trainer as claimed.

Who is Mr. Athas trying to fool? What is he trying to convince his readers?

There are other information that is far from accurate. Such information are out of the scope of this public forum.
