Title: memories of the future
Post by: weli_polonga on January 29, 2007, 02:29:23 PM
laying alone with nothing to do
i saw the future unfold
see sad faces looking down
with children crying, wife in haze!

why they throw both, earth and flowers
candles give too dim a light
feel the cold of the hole around me
hear the worms creeping by
when the angles come to fatch me
Lucifer's seated on the cross.

This is an unfinished work

When I'm 65

What u gonna do when u got be sixty five,
U may be with ur family or may not be alive,
Future is a mistery that no one realy knows.
Sri Lanka's headed for distruction,
The cold wind sadly blows.

I see sunshine in my daughter's eye.
I am happy, because I am breathing and alive.
There is love here, and I'm young again.
I just wanna tell ya that I love you.

Now who am I to tell that ur life been realy good,
U may have seen the things I have seen.
Or u may have missed them too.
This country is in a shit pit, with guns, bombs and bribes.
And all the politicos, taking us for a ride.

I see sun shine in my daughters eye.
I am happy, because I'm breathing and still alive.
I feel love here and I'm young again.
I just wanna tell ya that I love you.

Not an hot shot original. Based on a song we used to sing a generation ago!

This came my way in celebration of International Womenís Day. It is dedicated as a poem from a Mother (The Greatest Woman we all ever meet). Included in this tread as my Mom is still breathing and alive, and I still have time to love her for all that she has done for me.

THE TIME IS NOW

If you are ever going to love
Love me now while I can know
The sweet and tender feelings
Which from true affection flow

Love me now while I am living
Do not wait until I am gone
And then have it chiseled in marble
Sweet words on ice cold stone

If you have tender thoughts of me
Please let me know now
If you wait until I am sleeping
Never will be death between us

And I won't hear you then
So if you love me, even a little bit
Let me know while I am living
So that I can treasure it

Laying alone is triying to capture how I will feel (if I could still feel somehow) when my family bury me after my death. Never got into the mood to finish it. Will write more in future.

Dedicated to the shrink I hardly know

Soul Mates

Standing apart from my friends and family,
Who are you to see my heart and read my mind?
More than a friend, but much less a lover.
I want you, to show me the way. Ya! lead me on.

I sit at my desk and stare at the screen, waiting for the mail to appear.
I know that through your busy schedule, youíll make a note for me.
Not just hais or Byes, but essays with more insight.
At times I fear that you know me better than my wife.

Although there is this unwritten law
We should never face each other,
We may forget our responsibilities,
When you know someone so close,

I want you ÖÖÖ.† To show me the way
Lead me onnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn

Mother of Three Sons

Although you gave birth to
Two sons along time ago,
You are upto your Arms
Holing on to three sons now.

Two are biological,
The third is an enigma
The last son you met only yesterday
Why is he the oldest of the three?

Why bother to mom him
Are you scared that he is a lost soul?
Does he moves you like the other two
Or just a son in a different plain?

Do you feel his loneliness ?
Is it why you mother him ?
Is there something you cant fathom ?
Or scared to face about ?

In a time when mother's abandon their children
I was lucky to find you
What was it that bought you to me
How did you see the loneliness of the farmer in me?

hot April afternoon

When the heart is so lonely
The day donít just passes by
Hangs on to me, hour after an hour,
The seconds doesnít fly

Itís both hot and rainy,
Humidity is too high
Sweat all my energy
Will wreck me in a while

Memories of happy times
And dilutions of the past
Tries to kick start my mind
A process which is doomed

No mails or smsís, the telephone never rings
No one remembers me, on this Easter afternoon
Gota live it all by myself
Cursing the weekend and the time

Rain is falling heavily
The gutters overflow
Drains are full to their brim
It is water that surrounds

While a bud is trying to bloom
Will the wind uproot the bush?
Tomorrow is a decade away
To access your soul !!!!!!!!!!!

IF

If you want all the answers
Got to pose your questions first
If you want to know the way
Got to know your destination

Living an aimless life
Killing the passing time
Halt !!! Wake Up !!!
Or be dead in a worthless life

If you want money to live
Got to earn it a rupee at a time
If you want a house to live
Got to build up a brick at a time

Living an aimless life
Killing the passing time
Halt !!! Wake up !!!
Or be dead in a worthless life

If wanna see your grand children play
Gotta live up, till that day
If you want the marriage to last
Learn to treat your spouse, first class

Living an aimless life
Killing the passing time
Halt !!! Wake up !!!
Or be dead in a worthless life

This was written recently and published at another web site to which I contribute under the same pseudo.

Weekends and Rainydays

Even when the sun is at its height
With no clouds to block the light
When the meadows are gray with heat
Itís just another rainy day for me.

With no letters to keep me awake
Got to cover my body in thin ice
Dissipating heat will keep me alive
Till Monday morning light

Why donít you call me now?
Or just call and cut the line
Scared to meet a potential threat?
That will leave a marriage in shreds

I promised never call you first
Got to call my gal who is true
Go ahead, just punch the numbers
You know by heart even though I donít remembers

72 Hrs is too long a time to wait
For a little mail that wonít even fill a page
You give me all thy excuses
Expecting me to believe in religion

Man evolved before those racketeers
Peddled their opium for a reference
In historical books, for an upliftment
Of their egos and the money that comes

Now we fight just for religion
And has killed in multi millions
Poor old souls who wanted to be free
Like this Weli_P, who lives free?

The Garden
(woodstock '69 - revisited)

Good vibrations all around,
Makes you feel glad.
Neighbors are always friendly,
Make me a happy man.

Mary Jane keeps rolling,
Throwing smoke around.
Think you are in a heavenly garden,
Yea! At least itís out of this world

Heavens open with freedom,
Fish will beg for war,
Sly will take you higher,
Slicís one of the stars

Who will dash the guitar?
And who has thrown it way
Moon was still there,
Banging the drums away

When Hendrix plays the anthem,
The guitar comes alive.
Time to hit the dirt road,
And trek back to your life

Fanfare from a bleeding heart

Good bye my love it's hard to leave
when the summer is at its peak.
I met you after a year
there is sunshine in the air.
I wish I could still be there.
Good bye my gals, my little ones.
You will never know the sadness in a father's heart
I'm happy that you two will be still in your class
To miss my tears when I leave.
The vacations is near its end,
It is time to pack my bags again
The big jet will fly me to my land,
An empty home far away.
Don't know when I can see your radiant ways

There is fun, there is love, there is hope in our lives
But the minutes spent together are the most treasured ones

Approach of the Winter

When the heart is at its tender during the spring, you wandered by.
The heat of the mid summerís sun burnt us together in life.
Now in the fall of our lives we gather what we sowed in spring and wonder
At our daughters and how they have entered their own spring in life
Yellowing trees and falling leaves is, but a reminder
That the harsh winter is about to set
We may have few days left
Before the falling snow will berry us in
To our great hibernation and beyond
As the days become longer
And the years pass in a flash
Hope this world will give us some time to be together
As we did in our own spring times
When the winter is over,
My name will be an epitaph in a cold tombstone
A faceless name forgotten by time
Even to our own offspring

Antarctic Storm

Basking in the sun light
Temperature is minus nine
The chilly wind cuts into bone
Flying with the speed of sound

Loose snow flies around
Making halos in the sky
Gigantic structures arise
To be flattened to their sides

Tents have disappeared
The Wind Socksí alight
Hunting seals are no where in sight
The whales are in a deep dive

Fish has blown aground
To the penguins delight
Just another day break had begun
Under the Helium Hole in Antarctic ice.

Weli,
These poetic thoughts of yours, did capture my heart and soul,
was trapped in them, until I realise it ws almost time for me to catch the last bus home
read them all,
Admire your poetry the free style verses are amazingly threaded, they flow immensely creating a sharp image in the reader's mind

Week ends and rainy days is  my favorite so far
(well in reality I luv week ends and just long for rainy, gloomy days)

Black Hole

Iím waiting my dear
In the sky above your gaze
A zillion light years away
But you wouldnít see

The light donít dissipate
Absorbs all that passes by
Even time warps around,
The Black Hole in space

You can never see my face
Even with the biggest telescope
You will ever assemble in space
Only guess that I'm there
Looking into your eye!
Yes!!! And your life

Weli,
Your writings are excellent and interested to read for any one. Most of areas of your writings love  to be alone with my mind. You have used excellent sense of words to see the real life of a man, which are around us in this earth. Depiction of what you made is, indeed very high & sensitive. That much, those are capturing to our heart and soul.
As you said in last poem -Black Hole-, ďEven With The Biggest Telescope, You Can Never See My FaceĒ, That Is A Real Truth Of This Life. Millions of meaningful sounds on it with a hide act.
Keep on writing with your eye concentrate sound. Wish you all the best my friend.

Who cares for Vanni Children?

Low flying jets that roar
With After Burners in the dusk, that glow
Technology at its best in a sleek flying machine
Death and Destruction, is all you represent

Children of Vanni fear your roar,
Aiming for the Tiger Nest! you go
A fraction of an error in your human input
It's the innocent civilians, that will perish

No one takes the blame when the young die,
Just few numbers that adds to the final pie
The tired old mechanic who fixed the bomb
Forgot to tighten the nut that held it to the wing.

Closer to the school the bomb dislodged.
Arced into a classroom that was in session
The carnage took no seconds, when the bomb explode
Arm and limbs scatter in the crater, where the school once stood.

Million angry voices will raise against the Government
Air Forceís Court of Inquiry will ground the Pilot
Hundreds of young Tamils will join the Tigers.
But Mechanic will go on servicing the Bombers.

Hope this will never happen!

Plains of pain and delight

Rolling plains that rolls on, for ever.
Kissing the sky, in distant horizon
A wondering heart that longs to belong
With nothing but the wind that blows

Scorched earth, brown in colour
Grass and weeds, swaying in wind
Reminds me of tunes, to which I once danced
In an era thatís gone by!

Dried up riverbed with puddles of mud
Humming of insects attracted by water
Dance near the remaining pools
Like little children playing in a field

Greying sky, a fore warning of thunder
That will awaken, this plains in Green
And will make the land to harvest
Once again in the circle of life.

I was here and I was there
Flowing with the wind, but was not aware,
That life is too short
To see all of these plains

Love song in a blown up world

Songs of a distant past
Harmonises with the blowing wind
Hands of the lovers entangle
Minds of the enlightened meet
Illusions of the passing years
Lingers on for another day
Weapons of the enraged foes
Fire at will and kill all life
Human Bombs, rule the day
Humiliating the Kamikaze Dead
Where are we heading? no one knows
Paranoid kings order innocent deaths

Thanks Jeewaka.

I was out with my gal on Koti Friday way back in July '83. Had to walk home all the way from Union Place as buses stoped running. There were no exploding bombs but maurading crowed were out hunting for Tamils that day.

Welcome your encouragements.

White Waters

A millennia ago when the snow melted
It took the top crust of the mountain
Leaving the bare rock out crops
Forming it into a steep decent,
For the river to wind down in Rapids.

The Dinos hunted in the back yards
In those years gone by.
Then came the mammals
Crossing it at low tides.

Now humans play with little rafters
Risking their lives for the trills.
Yet little they know of the secrets
That buries under these rapidly flowing water

Teenage Daughters

I have seen you moments after your birth
Held you close during your early stage
Still remember your first day in school
When you braved the unknown world.

Now you are ending your Junior High
Ready to graduate from the Middle School
And will go to your first dance
At the Middle School Prom

Although I miss your catwalk show
When you call the honours at the Graduation Ball
I know your days are numbered under our care
When you finish your High School lair
The University will take you further away
To new horizons in the grown ups way.
